St. Tabitha (or
Tabeetha) was a widow of Joppa, she was mentioned in the Acts of the Apostles
(9:36-42) as one who "was completely occupied with good deeds and almsgiving."
She fell ill and died and was raised from the dead by St. Peter. Tabitha
is sometimes called Dorcas.
