St.
Raphael, the Archangel is a guardian spirit especially of the young,
of pilgrims and of other travellers. In fine arts St. Raphael is often
depicted in connection with the legend of
Tobit
and Tobias.

Madonna of the Fish, in this picture the artist depicted
his guardian namesake presenting Tobias, who holds the fish, to the Virgin
and the Child.
