Jeremiah (prophet) is one of the four greater prophets of Ancient Israel
(the others are Daniel, Ezekiel, and Isaiah), author of The Book of the
Prophet Jeremiah.
Jeremiah predicted the attack of ruthless enemies upon Jerusalem and
the Kingdom of Judah and Babylonian imprisonment of the Jewish people.
Between 605 and 587 BC, the armies of Nebuchadnezzar, King of Babylon,
laid waste to Syria and Palestine. After the destruction of Jerusalem by
Babylonian troops, Jeremiah was taken as prisoner to Babylon where he died.
