Death of Ananias and Sapphira
Death of Ananias and Sapphira
is described in The Acts of Apostles
(5:1-10). Ananias was a wealthy member of the Christian community in Jerusalem.
In order to be able to take care of the needy the church asked all its
members to give it their property. Ananias and his wife, Sapphira, as some
other rich members, sold their property and laid the proceeds at
the feet of the apostles. But Ananias and Sapphira lied that they gave
everything they had. Apostle Peter accused them of lying to God. Hearing
the apostle's judgment, Ananias fell down and died, the same happened to
his wife, Sapphira.
