Louis Caravaque was born and trained in France. He came to Russia in 1715 on the invitation of Peter I. Caravaque lived and worked in Russia for 40 years until his death in 1754.
The heritage of the artist is not studied yet. He painted portraits, landscapes, battle scenes; made sketches for tapestry manufacture, plafonds for palaces, etc.
