Pontormo. Portrait of Niccolo Ardinghelli.

Niccolo Ardinghelli was canon of the church  of Santa Maria del Fiore in Florence. He and Pontormo found a mutual friend in the writer Benedetto Varchi, through whom them supposedly became acquainted. This portrait is said to be the last surviving painting by Pontormo
