Ancient Greek and Roman Myths Notes

Pandora

Pandora was the first woman, created by Hephaestus and Athena, with the help of other gods and under general instructions of Zeus. Each god and goddess presented her with special qualities - beauty, grace, etc. Hephaestus' gave her qualities of constant lying and deceit. She was designed to bring men misfortune as a punishment for having received divine fire from Prometheus. She also held a box (or a pot) with all world's evils. By opening it carelessly she let all the evils out.
