Ancient Greek and Roman Myths Notes

Hesperus

Hesperus – the spirit of the evening star, said to be the son or the brother of Atlas. He was the first to climb Mount Atlas to watch the stars; from there a storm swept him away, causing him to disappear without trace. Because of his kindness, men supposed that he had been transformed into the friendly evening star which every evening brought the peace of night.
