My grandmother left me some prints that I think are worth something. Pieter de Hooch, dutch artist from 1629-1685, print of the original "The Card Players". If some one could help me with a price so that I will know how much to insure this for, I would be forever thankful. Cheree'

My mother has a copy of "Penny a Bunch" by George Elgar Hicks. It was handed down to her from her mother who was given the print because the woman in it resembled her. I was told the woman resembled me, also, when I was younger. I was searching for information about the print and the artist and came to this site. I am also interested in James Tissot. One of his paintings is in the art museum here in Cincinnati. Your collection of his work was a pleasure to examine.

I love your site, but could you please expand your section on Pre-Raphaelite painters? I love John William Waterhouse and you do not have any copies of his work. You have a great site overall though! (Also, are you Russian? I notice you include the work of many Russian painters.)

Hi. Thank you for such a wonderful sight. I wonder if you, or anyone else for that matter, might know where I could purchase a copy of Perov's "Troyka" online. I recently visited Moscow and St Petersburg with my Grandfather and would like to present him with a framed copy of it for his birthday. He absolutely loved that painting. I have searched high and low online for a shop that might carry this with no luck. Help!! Thank you so much! Nate Castro

Your site helps me much! Not a few pictures are hard to see in other sites. As you know, it's pretty difficult to think about concrete problems such as each styles by only writing, and it's also hard to confirm very minor works which it refers to without much money here in Japan:) For example Duccio's "the Announcement of the Virgin's Death" is what I really wanted to see! Thank you so much.

I would like to thank the lot of you for your compilation of artworks. As a self taught artist, your website is priceless when it comes to researching paintings on Russian Landscape Artists. When black and white images in a book are not quite good enough, it is a relief to know there is a place I can quickly go to see the same images in colour. If you have anymore works on late 19th century-early 20th century Polish Landscape artists, I would appreciate your site even more (if that is possible). Thank you.

First of all, I just want to say that I think your site is one of the best on the internet. The pictures of the works are abundant and also very clear and easy to see. I always come here when I am doing art projects or just looking for information. The only comment I have is that its sometimes hard to find artists according to dates. Sometimes I need to find an artist based on the period, not just their name. A chronological search engine would be fantastic. Also, could you add a section on William Waterhouse? He's one of my favorite arists. Thank-you so much! :)

Quality Information? You don't know that Victorine Meurent exhibited at the official salon more times than Manet or Degas. (5 Times) That she stopped drinking and lived to be 84. That she owned her own home in Colombe. That she died in 1926. Before you publish UTTER anti-female BULLSHIT, I wish you would get your facts straight.

The fact she is the image of one of my beautiful granddaughters may have something to do with the fact. My print was done by Raphael Tuck and Sons London, Paris, New York. It is a beauty, there is no doubt. I shall treasure your informative site. Many thanks.

I loved the site! I couldn't find a few more comon artist such as Dali or Escher, but I can find them anywhere. Finding artists such as Arcimboldo and the Brugels more than made up for it. I could complain that the picture quality and the general web page design wasn't that crash hot but for a free web page I thought it was more than sufficient. Thank you for a thoroughly enjoyable site. I will be back!

Dear Olga! Your Gallery is of a great importance. I enjoy it. Moreover, I make an excellent use of it in my teaching science-art relations and symmetry (i.e., harmony, proportion) in arts and the sciences. Hello. I am wondering if some person of Renoir Edification might come to my rescue. I have this print of a young girl sitting in a boat, and there is a young man padddling behind her on her right side. Either a beautiful scarf of fiery colours is coming out of her hat, or the end of his boat is in flames, I haven't yet decided which. Recently I have come to the coclusion that this is my favorite piece in the world, and yet, do not know what the title of it is, or where one might find it. Someone, please save me.

well, first i must say that the below comment is uncalled for. I have been looking around for a page that has artwork, at least big enough to view. this site fills my needs very well. the fact that there is little BS in the page show that the author of this page knows the first rule of web design, CONTENT before all else.. the page is used to express content not to look "Pretty". and that is all i have to say

Only complaint, although it's obviously not really down to the site itself, is that I couldn't find a good quality print to go in a nice frame of Canaletto's, "A Regatta On The Grand Canal". Olga, I have noticed that a couple of people have asked you about the painting "Penny a Bunch" by George Elgar Hicks. I have been trying to secure copy for myself. My mother-in-law has the one, and does not know how long her family has had it nor where the obtained it. If you have any information on where I could find a copy or reproduction please let me know. Thank you, James

I am a professional genealogist, married to Dr. Mark E. Kikin, a professor of the Russian language, and most likely a relative of Peotr Andreevich Kiken. It is amazing how much Mark looks like Peotr. Is there any possibility of getting a print of this picture and do you know anything about the portrait my husband saw of a General Kiken in the Hermitage?

Hi! I don't suppose you'll see this message but if you do... It would be very nice if you provided some CDs of the complete collection for sale. The motivation behind this would be that access time costs the users of the site, and anyway you would make some money. The motivation for this suggestion was so that you could provide higher quality pictures without needing to be too worried about space constraints. This would allow serious people to study some of these paintings in somewhat more depth. Just a suggestion!

The most complete collection of on-line art images that I can find. The only complaint is that when looking at an inlarged image, one should be brought back to the thumbnail, so that one does not lose their place in your art gallery - a task not difficult to do. I have placed our site in my favorites, so I can come back often.

Olga's Gallery is best. No, it's even better than that. It's more best. And maybe even better than that, too. I like the Albrecht Durer Gallery. How did he get all them details in, anyway? Did he put the details in the model first and then copy them, or did he copy the model and then fill the details in later? Maybe he put details in the model after he copied them. You know, a good friend of mine went around for years without any details. But then later on he got engaged and I guess the girlfriend pressured him into it. He even had to start wearing shoes, too. Just last week some guy from down the street brought over this image of particle trails where even the quarks had details on them. How do you dust things like that anyway? But then I guess one of them doggone strangelets happened along and ran everybody off, which blurred the whole shot. The photo didn't look so good after that. You know, I just don't know what gets into those things, anyway. Love, Lester Vergiss

Yours is without a doubt THE most informative and best art gallery on the internet. I'm not even sure now how I found you but I'm so glad I did. I have seen pictures of the Sistine Chapel before but none like what you have. I sat here in awe and tears actully came to my eyes from the beauty of it. This is great. I came looking for a refresher on Botticelli -- whose Mystical Nativity from the National Gallery in London would be nice to add -- ended up cruising all over the place. Thanks. Personally, I would love to see more 19th century German and Russian stuff, since it is usually woefully neglected on this side of the Atlantic. Likewise, American work from the same period which people abroad usually don't know about. Keep up the good work!

I'm a great admirer of your Gallery & I visit it nearly every day. Thank you very much! But I think, one very important detail is missing in comments to each picture - the dimensions of the work. Without the dimensions I cannot imagine is it a great canvas or a little knick-knack? It is impossible to estimate in a full measure the greatness of such a canvas (for ex.) like Brulloff's "The last day.."if you didn't know it is a large one. Is it possible to add this information to your comments? Once more my thanks for a wonderful site! Best wishwes. 22/01 2001 0.08
