Lot
Lot
is a nephew of
Abraham, the first great patriarch
of Israel. Tradition has preserved two episodes: the first is the destruction
of Sodom and Gomorrah, ancient cities, which were punished by God for their
sin of homosexuality; the cities were ruined. Only Lot with his family,
as they were all innocent, was allowed to flee from Sodom. (Genesis 19).
Lot left the city with his daughters and wife, and two angels warned them:
"Flee for your lives! Do not look back or stop anywhere in the plain. Flee
to the hills or you will be destroyed." (Genesis 19: 17) But Lot's wife
looked back to see the destruction and she turned into a pillar of
salt. (Genesis 19:26).

The second episode is the incest Lot commited unknowingly with his daughters.
After their escape they settled in a cave in the mountains. And the elder
daughter persuaded the younger that they were to preserve the family and
as there were no other men around, they planned to become pregnant from
their father. They made him drunk and commited incest. As a result they
gave birth to sons: Moab, son of the elder daughter, and Ben-ammi, son
of the younger daughter. (Genesis 19:30-38).
