Aristide Bruant (1851-1925) was the owner of the Montmartre nightclub Le Mirliton, and a singer. He was known for his crude and vulgar style and his biting, satirical language, which he used to abuse the upper-class patrons of his establishment. See also: Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec.
