Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. Poster: Moulin Rouge - La Goulue.
Louise Weber (1866-1929) was a famous can-can dancer of German-Jewish descent, and student of the dancer and dancing teacher Jacques Renaudin (know as Valentin le Desosse, or Valentin the Boneless). She was one of the most famous dancers of her time, known for her flamboyant and vulgar style. She got her nickname "La Goulue" or "The Glutton" for her manner of taking food and drinks from the tables of nightclub customers as she was dancing.
