Pleve, Vyacheslav Konstantinovich
(1846-1904) Russian state figure. From 1884 Director of the Police Department, as well as senator and vice-minister in the Ministry for Internal Affairs. From 1894 State Secretary. From 1899, Minister for Internal Affairs and Chief of Gendarmery (political police). Led strict policy towards revolutionary movements and actively supported war between Russia and Japan (1904-1905). He was killed by E. S. Sazonov, a member of the Social Revolutionary Party
