(15 B.C. – A.D.19), a Roman general, the son of Nero Claudius Drusus, and nephew of the emperor Tiberius, who adopted Germanicus. Germanicus was married to Agrippina the Elder, who eventually headed the anti-Tiberius party. The popular opinion is that Germanicus was poisoned by Piso, the governor of Syria, on the order of Tiberius, who was jealous of Germanicus’ popularity.
