Georges Clemenceau (1841-1929) French statesman. He was educated as a physician and lived in the USA 1865-69. In 1871, he went into politics. He was the Prime Minister of France in 1906-09 and again in the crucial post-War years 1917-20. He presided at the Peace Conference in 1919. A brilliant journalist, he founded the magazine
L'Aurore, and became a member of the French Academy of Arts in 1918
