Another one of four overdoors painted for the duc de Penthièvre’s Parisian townhouse, the Hôtel de Toulouse. This scene from Torquato Tasso’s Aminta pictures the female protagonist, Sylvia, being rescued by the courageous shepherd, Amintas.
