Agrippa, Marcus Vipsanius (63-12 BC), Roman
commander and statesman. He defeated Sextus Pompey, and then Mark Antony
and Cleopatra, thus helping Octavian, called later Emperor Augustus (his
statue could be seen in the painting), to gain absolute power over Roman
Empire. His third wife was Augustus' s daughter Julia.
